Alastair MacColl is the Chief Executive of Business & Enterprise North East, a private sector led business that operates the Business Link and skills brokerage service for the North East of England.  Business & Enterprise North East also operates the North East England Investment Centre, the North East England Service Provider Register, the North East Employer Coalition and the Regional International Trade Office that provides the UKTI service in the North East. The principal role of Business & Enterprise North East is to help more North East businesses to start, succeed and grow by promoting business growth, enterprise and investment in skills.

Before joining Business & Enterprise North East, Alastair worked in newspapers and media-related businesses across the UK for almost twenty years, leading publishing businesses for Trinity Mirror plc and the Daily Mail and General Trust Group.

Alastair is Deputy Chair of Teesside University Board of Governors, Chair of Teesside Business School Advisory Council and a member of the Leadership Board of Tees Valley Unlimited.
