Declan started his marketing career in KP FOODS after leaving the Army. During his time there he worked across a number of crisp and smack brands predominately Disco, Frisps and Roysters. In 1997 he was instrumental in taking KP Foods online, developing consumer websites for a number of key brands including Brannigans, McCoys and Discos. These included a number of world first including the a hand drawn flash website for Brannigans pub guide.

Declan began working agency side, initially with Leighton Media based in Sunderland where he was responsible for delivering a number of public and private sector digital marketing projects before heading up their small business solutions team. Subsequently Declan joined Calm Asylum based in Middlesbrough, where he worked predominately with start ups, including online businesses, developing and delivering their brands as Creative Director within the business.

Last year Declan started his own company, Better Brand Agency with partners Mark Easby and Peter Jones and has continued to work with public and private sector organisations helping them gain fresh customer insight and develop their brands. Social Media is an area Declan is extremely active in and works closely with organisations to help them create a culture of social media within their organisation as well as developing strategy, advises on consumer trend, and social media metrics. Earlier this year Better won 'best social media campaign' at the Digital Awards. Declan also writes articles and presentations regarding the future of brands, corporate customer responsibilities in relation to marketing practice and implementing a social media strategies.
