Having set up and run five businesses, Joanna went on to take her MBA with distinction at Newcastle University Business School in 2003, and she is now completing her Ph.D. She has been Academic Director of Executive MBA Programmes at NUBS and is currently bought out to be COO of Inkspot Science Ltd, a scientific collaboration platform delivering collaborative software as services to the regional, national and global scientific community.

She is non-executive Director for Carrot Media Ltd, a brand image consultancy which span out of Newcastle University’s Business Enterprise module in 2003. Joanna lectures in Management Consultancy, Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Strategic Marketing for the Executive MBA.

Joanna is a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consultancy, a Chartered Marketer, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Vice Chair for the North East CIM Board. As part of her work with the CIM she is responsible for a ‘Great North East Brands’ programme of events to highlight great brands that come from and are made in the region.
